Slate Night

Slate Night

Party charades where the phone is the film slate: read your secret scene, close the phone to clap the slate, and act it out while your team guesses against the clock.

Coming soon to the App Store

Designed for iPhone Duo. The two halves of the phone are the two sticks of a clapperboard. The inner display is the actor's private script; the outer display is the slate the whole room watches.

Pass-and-play for 2 to 4 teams in one room. No in-app purchases, no ads and no account. Slate Night works offline and collects no data.

What each pose does on iPhone Duo

There are two folds per scene: close to start the take, open to end it. Speed and force never matter.

PoseWhat it does in Slate Night
Open (inner display, held wide or tall)The script desk. The actor taps It's me and reads the secret scene where nobody else can see it. After a take, opening the phone calls Cut!: the scene is revealed to everyone and the points chalk in. Setup, scores and the awards live here too.
Partly folded (book or laptop)The same as open. Folding partway shields the script from the room, and the drawn clapsticks follow the hinge. It never starts the take.
Closed (outer display)Closing after reading is the clap: Action! The outer display becomes the public slate, with the roll, scene and take numbers, a countdown and a big GOT IT! button for a player from another team.
Opened too soonOpening while the take is still rolling is a blooper. Close again for a retake from the production's two spare reels, or tap Cut to give up the scene.

On other iPhones

Slate Night plays on every iPhone with iOS 27 or later. Without a hinge, you drag the striped clapstick at the top of the screen down to call Action, and tap Cut to end the take. The rules, decks and scoring are the same. On iPhone Duo you can choose this on-screen slate in Settings, too.
