Slate Night

Privacy policy

Effective date: 2026-10-28

Slate Night collects no data. There's no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking, and the app never connects to the internet. Everything it saves stays on your iPhone.

This policy covers the Slate Night app for iPhone and this website. Slate Night is made by Syed Javaid ("we", "us").

What we collect

Nothing. Slate Night contains no networking code and makes no network requests, so nothing you do in the game is sent to us or to anyone else. The Privacy Policy link in the app's About screen opens this page in Safari.

What stays on your iPhone

Slate Night saves a few things inside the app on your iPhone so the game works the next time you open it:

Slate Night never asks for players' names; teams take a name from the game's own list. None of this is synced to iCloud or sent anywhere. Like other app data, it's included in your iPhone's own backups.

Resetting or removing it

To start over, open Settings in Slate Night and choose Reset progress. To remove everything Slate Night has saved on your iPhone, including settings and Writers' Room scenes, delete the app.

The hinge

On iPhone Duo, Slate Night reads the hinge while you play: whether the phone is closed, partly open or fully open, and how far it's open. Closing and opening are the game's controls; the angle only moves the drawn clapsticks and the creak sound. The hinge readings are used in the moment on your iPhone and are never stored or sent. Only the game's results, such as scores and bloopers, are saved, on your iPhone.

What Slate Night doesn't use

Slate Night doesn't use the camera, the microphone, motion sensors, location, contacts or photos, and it never asks for those permissions. Its sounds are generated by the app itself, nothing is recorded, and the blooper reel is made of text cards, not video.

Third parties

Slate Night contains no third-party code: no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting SDKs. It has no Game Center, no sign-in and no in-app purchases.

Apple and your iPhone

Apple runs the App Store and may collect information under its own privacy policy, for example when you download the app. If you turn on sharing with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics; you control that in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. Backups of your iPhone are between you and Apple; we can't see them.

Children

Slate Night is a family party game rated 4+, and children often play it with adults. It collects no personal information from anyone, including children. There are no ads, no purchases, no chat and no way to contact other people in the app, and scenes a child writes in the Writers' Room stay on the iPhone. If you believe a child has emailed us, tell us and we'll delete the message.

Your choices and rights

Because we hold no data about you, there's nothing for us to access, correct, export or delete. We don't sell or share personal information. You can reset your progress or delete the app at any time, as described above.

This website

This site uses no cookies, analytics, trackers, web fonts or scripts, and loads nothing from other sites. It's hosted on Cloudflare Pages, and Cloudflare may log technical information such as IP addresses to deliver and secure the site, as described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

If you email us

Slate Night has no in-app contact form. If you write to us, we receive your email address and whatever you include. We use it only to reply, and we don't add you to any list. Our email is handled by Gmail (Google).

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the effective date at the top. A version of Slate Night that collects data would say so here and in its App Store privacy label first.
